Liverpool
The Titanic was built by Whitestar Line and their Head office was in Liverpool at Albion House, 30 James Street,
these offices were besieged by the public on the 15th April 1912. Titanic has numerous connections with
Liverpool many of the crew were from Liverpool and 6 of the most senior officers lived there.
There is a fine memorial to "The engine room heroes" at Pier Head Liverpool and also a
memorial plaque to the entire band at the Philharmonic hall, Liverpool.
Belfast
The Titanic was built in the Belfast shipyard, Harland & Wolff, the ship was launched from
Belfast on 31 May 1911 and successfully completed sea trials in Belfast Lough during 1912.
Hundreds of men in Belfast had worked on the construction of the luxury liner and there
were Irish passengers and crew on board the ship. The city's attachment to the ship has
never diminished. The shipyard remains in Belfast, and you can still visit the Thompson
Dry Dock and the
Pump Rooms where Titanic was built. Other places of interest are Dunallon -
Home of Thomas Andrews, Titanic's Designer, SS Nomadic -
Last remaining vessel of the White Star Line, The Harland & Wolff Drawing Office -
Where Titanic's plans were drawn and of course there is the Titanic Memorial -
